A subdomain is a website url, that is under a main, or a root domain name. An illustration is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Each and every subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. aside from using the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be fully independent and also hosted by a different service provider. Employing a subdomain can be extremely handy if you'd like to have different websites which are associated in some way. For example, you may have a web-based store under the main domain plus a forum under a subdomain in order to offer means for your customers to ask questions and / or share thoughts about your products. The benefit of using a subdomain instead of a subfolder is that the websites will be separated, so you can update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Website Hosting

Our website hosting plans will allow you to create countless subdomains for any domain hosted inside your account without any problem. Assuming that the main domain name is added, it takes two mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and choose what folder it will open (if different from the default one), set custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and a lot more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and control. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using quick access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that specific subdomain. We have not set a limit for the amount of subdomains which you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you need.
